WIMBLEDON FINALIST JASMINE PAOLINI MAKES KURPARK DEBUT
At 1.63 metres, she is one of the smallest tennis players on the WTA Tour – however, thanks to her two Grand Slam finals in 2024 in Wimbledon and Paris, Jasmine Paolini has impressively proven that she currently belongs to the most successful pros on the circuit. This year, the spectators at the Kurpark can look forward to plenty of power tennis and trademark Paolini passion when the energetic Italian competes at the Bad Homburg Open powered by Solarwatt (21 to 28 June 2025) for the first time.
‘I am delighted to be playing in Bad Homburg for the first time,‘ Paolini said, adding that she had heard ‘a lot of good things‘ about the event: ‘I think the tournament is a great preparation for Wimbledon.‘
French Open final rematch possible at the Kurpark
Last season, the world number six achieved the feat of making it to two major finals within just five weeks. In the French Open final, Paolini had to concede to the superior Iga Swiatek who, at Roland Garros, clinched her third consecutive title in Paris and fourth title overall. The Polish number two of the WTA rankings will also take part in the fifth edition of the Bad Homburg Open powered by Solarwatt. And, who knows … perhaps the anniversary edition of the boutique tournament will see a French Open rematch between Swiatek and Paolini…!
‘My fighting spirit has to be so big because I am so small’
In any case, Paolini, who comes from Castelnuovo di Garfagnana in Tuscany, feels completely at ease on grass courts. When she made a straight run to the final in Wimbledon 2024, the 29-year old, amongst other players, had defeated former US Open champion, Bianca Andreescu, as well as Madison Keys, who won the Australian Open at the beginning of 2025.
Federer fan driven to do ‘something special’
Apparently, her height is no decisive obstacle on the fastest of all surfaces. Paolini, the bundle of energy and 2024 WTA 1000 Dubai winner, seems to have found her recipe for success. ‘I never give up on a single ball. My fighting spirit has to be so big because I am so small,’ is the motto of the passionate Roger Federer fan.
Her lacking centimetres carry no weight given Paolini’s exceptional speed, anticipation and agility. Not to mention her powerful forehand and her ‘magic touch’with drop shots. She once revealed that for her playing tennis is not about hitting hard but about doing ‘something special.’
Olympic medallist, Bencic, and German number one, Lys, also to compete
Paolini has also captured seven WTA doubles titles and, amongst others, made it to the final of Roland Garros in 2024 alongside Sara Errani. Paolini describes herself as a proud Italian with international roots.
Colourful events programme in the Baloise Park Village
In addition to Paolini and Swiatek, Olympic medallist, Belinda Bencic, and the German number one, Eva Lys, have also confirmed their participation in this year’s Bad Homburg Open powered by Solarwatt, which, for the first time, will be the most important tournament in the week leading up to Wimbledon (starting 30 June). Further players to be announced soon.
In any case, tennis fans can certainly look forward to exciting and high-quality tournament days at the picturesque site of the TC Bad Homburg, as well as in the Baloise Park Village. With the WTA’s calendar reform making a stop at the Kurpark mandatory for the Top 30 players on their road to Wimbledon starting this season, the tournament is set to mark its small anniversary with its strongest line-up yet.
